Ragan was born and raised in Austin, Texas by a tenacious, loving and extremely hardworking single mom. College much-less law school was not an option for Ragan until her stepdad came into her life when she was in high school. He was a former graduate professor who taught MBA students at the University of Texas and took note of Ragan’s diligent work ethic, relentless determination, and drive and strongly encouraged her to go to college. She attended the University of Texas in Austin for three years graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Government and Business.
Ragan was inspired to go to law school by a business law class she took at UT. The professor conducted his class exactly like law school – drilling students by Socratic Method. He challengingly said, “You would never make it!” She accepted his challenge. Contrary to her professor’s opinion, she thrived in law school and earned extra money by tutoring first year students in legal research and writing, a class in which she received an American Jurisprudence award for the highest grade.
While in her last year of law school, she interned at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. She loved the excitement and fulfillment of seeking justice for victims. Ragan was attracted to her first job out of law school because she had decided that the best way to fulfill her love of standing up for victims without the nightmares of criminal work would be to pursue a career in personal injury law.
While in law school, Ragan met and married the love of her life, Aaron Speer, and father to her two children. Several years ago, Aaron was the defense attorney in a case where Todd represented a young woman who was rendered a quadriplegic as a result of a drunk driver who had been badly over-served at a bar. When Ragan decided to take the next step in her journey to being the best trial lawyer she could be, she asked Aaron to help her make a list of some of the best personal injury Plaintiff’s lawyers he had been against in Dallas. Todd Clement was at the top of his list. It was clear Ragan and Todd both had a passion for their clients and a passion for the practice. After five years of productively working together with exceptional results for our clients and the firm, Todd made Ragan a name partner creating Clement + Speer. We are now 10 years strong!
Ragan represents her clients, raises her children, and tries to live her life pursuant to her life verse Proverbs 3:3-4: “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”
